Goals

I am currently attending Western Connecticut State University as a freshman. I will be beginning my second semester in mid-January 2010. I entered my first semester of college weary, but confidant. My confidence kicked my grades into high gear, averaging about a 3.8 for the first semester. I am majoring in marketing for now, hoping that I could help promote myself in racing, as I get older. My dreams are still to become a professional racecar driver, just as they had been when I was ten years old.

My short term goals for my second year in the SK light division are to finish all of the races, gain a lot of top-10 finishes and hope for a few top-5’s and wins. “I’d really like to stay in the middle of the pack this year, rather than starting on the pole or last.” It was difficult in my first year to start on the pole, not being confident about how the car would be during the feature. The team has gained a lot of knowledge since they’ve started in the SK Lights and plan on using their knowledge in the second running. I would also like to get the Most Popular Driver Award, “I’ve always come close to receiving it! But, I’ve just missed the win by a few votes!” I think it’d be a very honorable award to receive because the fans are extremely important in my racing career. Although there are still a majority of veterans on the field, I am still considered a ‘rookie’ and can only hope for one or two wins throughout the season. “I wouldn’t want anything else but to win this season, just to prove that I can do it, I know I can.”

My long term goals stand the same as they have been since I sat in a go-kart as a child. The first day I’d ever raced I ended up 3rd, it was a significant event that I had been doing so well amongst the boys. Not too many girls had been known in racing yet, so I was popular for racing well against them. My goal is to become a professional race car driver in any series that I can really get my hands on. “Racing is racing, I just love going fast and being diverse (for the most part) amongst the men,” Any opportunity I receive in chasing my dream and getting closer to success is one I’ll take.

I would like to thank all of my current sponsors, family and friends who have helped throughout the years we’ve been racing. Without them we would not be where we are and know what we do. The team works really hard to do the best we can. We can only hope for more sponsors to help me achieve my goals.
