As the 2010 season approaches there is some exciting news happening for Lauren Cooper. Lauren will move her seat from the #25 Cooper Motorsports SK Light Modified to the multi feature winning #70 SK Light of Brit Anderson and Stan Butova. It is a move that will align Lauren with the second most winning team in the SK Light division since its inception in 2006. Lauren is well aware of the expectations that come with such a competitive ride and knows that there will still be a big learning curve yet again this year. Although it will be the first time in 5 years that she will compete in the same division of racing and she has become comfortable in the SK light class, she will have to learn the way of the new team. This is a great opportunity for Lauren to work with an experienced team and expand her resume in her drive to move up in racing. The Cooper Motorsports team and their affiliated sponsors will support Lauren for 2010 season and beyond. We all look forward to the upcoming season and hope for a stellar year.
The Cooper Motorsports team would like to send out a big Happy Holidays to all our friends, fans, and sponsors.

The 1st annual Plainville Stadium Racing Reunion was this past Saturday and Lauren had the pleasure of going to see some Vintage Modifieds that were on display and see some of the old time racers compete in a competitive go-kart race. The reunion was put on by the Nutmeg Kart Club who has use of a dirt oval track located at the Berlin Fairgrounds.
The day’s activities included a full schedule of feature races for the Nutmeg Club Karters, a two feature event for the Plainville Stadium Drivers, and ended with a group of fun match races for the karters to compete in. The Vintage Modifieds were placed in a barn located adjacent to the track and the display of cars was nicely prepared. There were lots of photo albums on display to be viewed, cars to be viewed up close, and plenty of conversation by drivers, friends and family. There was plenty of food and drink provided at the concession stand for the day. The racing on the dirt oval was competitive as usual. The Nutmeg Kart Club ran their features and put on a great show of what karting is all about, with classes that range from kids of 5 years old, Jr. classes with kids from 9-15 years old and Senior classes from 15 years old on up to AARP card holders. It was then onto the Plainville Stadium Drivers who would be placed into club members karts to race. The class had to be split into two groups due to the turnout of drivers that wanted to participate. The selection of karts would consist of Junior karts (which have less horsepower than the Senior karts) and Senior karts. It was all just for fun anyway, right? (Yea right!) These guys are racers and some former champions. The racing was fast and furious. The first feature was won by Sonny O’Sullivan. The second feature was won by 5 time champion Dave Alkas who was smooth as glass driving. The announcing during the races was provided by Gary and Brian Danko. Then it was onto the fun match races for the club, which had races like a powder puff race, parent, sibling race, mechanics race, etc. Lauren would like to send out a special ”THANK YOU” to the Danuzar’s for allowing her to hop into their daughter Morgan’s kart and participate in some races. It was a fun filled day for all who attended and the day was a huge success for the club. We look forward to next year when the club hopes to expand the track to make it bigger for next year’s events. If you would like to get involved in karting or want to keep up to date on what’s happening with the track at The Berlin Fairgrounds check out www.Nutmegkart.com
