April 30, 2010 – Stafford 05/08/2010

The Brit Andersen Motorsports Team unloaded a very fast race car for this weeks race. Lauren went out in round one of practice and posted fast time out of a field of 24 cars. The next two rounds found Lauren posting times of third quick on the speed charts.

The heat race would find Lauren starting on the outside pole. It was at lap one that Lauren was on the outside lane going into turn one and came in contact with Dave Webb. Lauren ended up spinning into the infield and lost a lot of ground to the rest of the field. Lauren was unable to catch the field and ended up finishing last.

The feature would find Lauren in her #70 car starting 25th. At the drop of the green flag it was obvious to Lauren who was on the outside lane going into turn one that the inside lane was much quicker. Just as Lauren made her move to the inside lane the #59 of Rick Williams checked up for slower cars in front of him. Lauren made hard contact with Rick Williams and both ended their night in the infield with out completing a lap.

It’s been a tough couple of weeks for B.A.M. team but hopefully our luck will turn around.

Spring Sizzler 2010 04/25/2010

The Spring Sizzler open practice on Friday went really well for Lauren and the #70 Team. Lauren started the practice day with lap times in the high 19 sec. range. Lauren’s times were coming down throughout the day and she pretty much maintained her position in the top three on the time charts for the day.  It was the last practice run of the day that Lauren planted a lap of 19.522  That time would be the third fastest time of the weekend for the S.K. Light class.

The team put on new tires for the Saturday practice rounds and Lauren had trouble getting the car up to the speeds she had on Friday. The crew made adjustments for the heat race where Lauren would start 3rd.  Lauren would drop to 5th in the heat race and stayed there until the checkers. The feature would find Lauren starting in the 14th position. Lauren quickly dropped to 18th in the 24 car field. Lauren ran 18th till lap eleven when she started to get a good feeling about how the car would handle traffic. Lauren quickly moved from 18th to 10th by lap nineteen. It was an unfortunate accident when Tommy Membrino Jr. hit the wall in turn two and Lauren was tagged from behind, it cut down a left rear tire. Lauren would have to park the car and finish with a DNF. The team was credited with a 21st place finish.

The Sunday’s Spring Sizzler activities are postponed until this Saturday May 1st with the same agenda that was scheduled for Sunday.

There will still be racing on Friday night with the S.K. Lights running a 30 lap feature, the Limited Late Models running a 25 lap feature, and the Dare Stocks running a 20 lap feature. Tickets are only $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids. We hope to see you there!

Track Rental and Open Practice 04/22/2010

It’s been a hectic week for the #70 team. The team was scheduled to practice on Friday April 16th but with rain in the forecast for that day it looked bleak. The track called during the week and decided to move the track rental up a day due to the forecast. The team was ready for a shakedown of the S.K. Light Modified by Wednesday night. Thursday at the track both Lauren and Brit took turns shaking the car down. It was the third time out that Lauren had hard contact with the turn two wall. It was an unfortunate incident and without haste the team knew they had their work cut out for them if they were going to have the car ready for Saturdays open practice. The crew loaded the car quickly and were off to the shop. The car was stripped down to the frame and on its way to the chassis shop in a little over 2 hours. The car was at the chassis shop by 4:00 p.m., clipped and back to the shop by 9:30 p.m. The crew had the car 80% ready by 12:30 a.m., Unbelievable!

The car was ready Friday night for Saturdays open practice. It was a true test of team dedication and this team raised the bar. The Saturday open practice was postponed to Sunday due to weather.

The Sunday open practice went really well with Lauren running lap times she had never run before. Lauren really showed a lot of composure to come back after Thursday’s practice and run lap times down to the low 19.7 sec. range. It was a great day for Lauren and the team to work together and Lauren to get a feel for the car. We look forward to this weekend to get some more track time on Friday with more practice and then Saturday’s race to kick off the season. We also look forward to Sunday’s “Pit Party” when we can meet fans and those that help support this team. Thank you to all our sponsors and this very dedicated team who make it all possible.

News as of April 11, 2010 04/11/2010

Practice was cancelled on Friday April 9th due to the rainy weather. We are currently scheduled for this coming Friday again to get some practice time in and shake the car down.

LOOKING FORWARD TO 2010 04/07/2010

It’s hard to believe that the 2010 race season is here and so is the warm weather in the East. It has been announced that Lauren will be driving for a very established Brit Andersen Motorsports Team. The team has worked hard over the winter months to prepare the car and upgrading it to all the new rules for this season. The roles of the owner and driver will both be new to each of them. Brit stepping out of his S.K. Light as a driver to being an owner, but also moving up to the very competitive S.K. Modified ranks driving for Doug DiPisa and Prestige Motorsports. Brit will have dual roles at the track on Friday nights as well as competing for rookie of the year honors. Brit’s last few seasons driving full size stock cars will serve him well in such a competitive class as was shown in the Fall Final at Stafford Motor Speedway in 2009. Brit’s role as owner will be solely based on getting his driver on track knowledge. Every young driver needs the voice of experience to help guide them from time to time. Lauren looks forward to working with Brit and Co-owner Stash Butova to gain that knowledge. This will be the first time Lauren will be driving for someone else other than her family.  Even though the faces will be different when Lauren pulls into her pit stall she can feel the voice of experience is there to guide her. The team will hit the track Friday April 9th for their first practice of the season. It will be great chance for the team to work together and shake the car down. Lauren looks forward to this season as a chance to show what she is really capable of with the right equipment and a full crew. Lauren and the Team are also looking forward to the Spring Sizzler Sunday Pit Party as chance to meet the fans.

2010 – Lauren Cooper Racing the #70….. 03/30/2010

The 2010 race season brings some very exciting news for Lauren Cooper Racing. Lauren was asked to drive for Brit Andersen Motorsports – Brit Andersen car owner and Stash Butova co-owner of the #70 S.K. Light Modified at Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, CT. She will be taking over the driver responsibility from Brit Andersen who drove the car to 13 feature wins in just three seasons and is always at the top of the speed charts. Lauren knows that she will have some big shoes to fill, but she also feels very confident that she will be behind the wheel of a race car that can win each and every week. That is something that she has yet to experience since moving up from karting into racing full size cars. It has been a struggle over the last three years of racing; Lauren has been a rookie for those last three years, racing in a new division and a different style race car each year. The crew was also comprised of rookies and that led to ill handling cars and a lot of mechanical issues as well. This will be the first season that Lauren will be running the full season and she has set some goals for herself and her new team. Lauren intends to win a few races this year, contend for a track championship, and win the Most Popular Driver Award (she has been in the running the last two years).

Lauren and her new team will be hitting the track early this year getting an extra practice in on April 9th and then the open practice on April 17th. That will lead into the opening weekend of the 39th annual Tech Net Spring Sizzler Weekend scheduled for April 23-25.

Anyone wishing to follow Lauren and her race teams season can do so by checking her highly successful website www.laurencooperracing.com the website has surpassed 120,000 unique views in a little over a year and half. Lauren unable to make it to the Auto Show due to the stomach flu… 02/08/2010

Lauren was unable to make the Frank Maratta’s Auto Show this Saturday due the flu. She deeply regrets missing this opportunity to meet her fans and her chance to compete in the pit crew challenge. It was an honor for Laurens mom to step in for her and compete in the pit crew challenge. Check out the pics in Lauren’s Gallery. The team named “Five Woman Wrenching” competed at a best time of 43:53 seconds. The five team members included: Heather DesRochers (Driver S.K.Lights) , Erica Santos (Driver S.K.Lights), (Renee Dupuis (Modified Tour), Renea Topp (Marketing Manager Lime Rock Park), and of course Deb Cooper (Lauren’s Mom)

Thanks to Mark Hann of Victory Motorsports for putting the pit crew challenge together. It was a blast to watch and I’m sure the wining team of Woody Pitkat will enjoy the $500.00 that they won. Congrats to them! Hope to see you there next year.

Lauren made the Deans List at Western Connecticut State College 01/28/2010

Lauren continues to add to her ever growing resume of achievements. The Dean of The Ancell School of Business contacted Lauren by letter on January 15, 2010 to congratulate her for the academic performance of the 2009 fall semester. Less than 13% of Ancell School students meet this high standard. We at Lauren Cooper Racing are so proud of her and wish her continued success in her studies and her racing future as well.
